Atari Tempest

I had just sat down for breakfast and pulled my laptop up beside me to check my email. While clicking through the usual spam received overnight, I get an instant message from a member from the Oklahoma Coin-Op Collectors forum. While he was browsing local eBay auctions, he had run across a Tempest machine and knew I liked vector machines. I opened up the auction and found less than two minutes remaining. I placed a bid and, much to my delight, won!

At this point, I was now running late for school and still had to call my father to arrange to borrow the truck for a quick trip to one of our neighboring cities just to the south. There was something extremely familiar about the eBay username of the seller, but I couldn't put my finger on it. About three hours later, while browsing the OCOC forum, it hit me: the seller was one of the members on the forum. It was quite delightful to meet another member of the forums in person.

The Tempest machine is now set up in the garage next to the Star Wars and the Multi Fighter. A small switch is located on the top of the machine that allows a player to switch between classic Tempest and the Tempest Tubes upgrade. Everything on the machine is in spectacular shape and makes for a fabulous first addition of a color vector game to my lineup. After comparing the picture with the Star Wars, the monitor might need a cap kit at some point, but I'm in no hurry.
